The Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program provides jobs for students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses. The program encourages community service work and work related to your course of study on campus. If you are interested in the Federal Work Study program, please contact the Financial Aid Office. Funds are limited and are awarded based on need and a first-come, first-served order. Submit your FAFSA early for priority consideration!
What are the qualifications?
To qualify for Federal Work-Study, a student must first submit a FAFSA to College of Marin (OPE ID: 001178) and:
- A Student Aid Index (SAI/EFC) of zero or -1500 is required for priority consideration. The SAI/EFC is calculated using the information provided on FAFSA.
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) which is determined at the end of each semester (maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA, 67% Pace, and not Max in units).
- Be enrolled and remain in at least 6 units.
- Must not be in default and or overpayment.
How much will I make?
Students may be awarded up to $16,000 for the Fall 2025 - Spring 2026 academic year at a minimum rate of $18.00 - $ 19.00 per hour.
How will I be paid?
You will receive a paycheck once a month (on the tenth) from the college or Direct Deposit to your indicated banking institution.
Can I work as many hours as I want?
Students will be required to work a minimum of 10 hours but no more than 25 hours per week. When assigning work hours, the Federal Work-Study coordinator will consider your class schedule and your academic progress.
