What is the Clear Path program at COM?
College of Marin (COM) will pay your mandatory tuition and fees* for all enrollment in credit or noncredit courses during the spring 2022 term, including late-start classes.
Who is eligible?
All students, regardless of residency or immigration status, enrolled in a minimum of 0.5 units for spring 2022.
What are the requirements to participate?
Students must enroll for the spring 2022 semester at COM. Completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act is highly recommended, but not required.
How do I apply to COM?
Before enrolling, you must have an OpenCCC account. Create an account and submit an application. (Skip this step if you attended COM within the last 12 months.)

What fees are paid by COM?
The following tuition and fees will be paid by COM:
- Enrollment fee: $46 per unit
- Nonresident fee: $265 per unit
- Nonresident capital outlay fee: $60 per unit
- Health fee: $21
- Technology fee: $10
- Transportation fee:
- $3 per unit, $36 maximum
- Noncredit program: $5 per term
- Student representation fee: $2
- Student activities fee: $8
- Course specific material fees (varies)
- Audit Fee: $15 per unit
The following fees will remain the student responsibility:
- Credit by exam: $46 per unit
- Document verification fee: $6
- Parking permit fee: $42 spring semester / $4 daily
- Transcript fee (first two copies free): $6
- Rush transcript fee (24-hour service): $15
- Rush document/verification fee: $15
- Refund service fee (for dropped classes): $10
How many units can I take for free in spring 2022?
COM will pay for up to 22 units (applies only during the spring 2022 semester).
What if I already paid my spring 2022 tuition and fees?
Students who have paid their spring 2022 tuition and fees will be issued an automatic refund check that will be mailed to the address on file with COM. Students do not need to request refunds.
What if I qualify for federal or state financial assistance programs?
All federal and state financial aid programs will continue to apply and disbursements will continue as scheduled.
I enrolled, why do I still have a balance due?
COM is paying tuition and mandatory fees on your behalf beginning in January. Until then, you will still have an account balance, but you are not required to pay and you will not be dropped for nonpayment.
Does the Clear Path program cover the cost of books?
No, but we offer Zero Textbook Cost courses and a Library Textbook program.
Will parking permits be free in spring 2022?
No. Students are responsible for the cost of a parking permit should they choose to purchase one. COM students can also ride Marin Transit for free!
I’ve submitted my proof of vaccination, what happens next?
Students should allow up to 24 hours from completion and submission of the Vaccine Verification Form for the enrollment restriction to be lifted.
How is the Clear Path program funded?
The program is funded through COM’s institutional portion of federal COVID-19 relief funding (HEERF).
*COM’s Clear Path campaign does not apply to Community Education classes, textbook costs, parking permits, or permissives such as rush transcript orders.
